'60s Vintage-Style With Modern Updates
MVP4-62 4-string bass delivers a boutique instrument experience with '60s vintage-style, and a modern build. When you put this bass in your hands, it's like you're home. That classic '60s P-bass tone is at your fingers, and the slim neck is effortless to play.
Alder Body
Tonewood of the '60s. The solid Alder body provides the classic warm mid-forward tone that's heard on countless recordings. The MVP4-62 body is solid Alder, not chambered, for authentic vintage tone.
'60s Style Passive Pickups
Custom wound Alnico-V single coil pickups deliver '60s vintage tone with punch and clarity. Very responsive for any playing style; finger, pick, slap, thumb.
Roasted Maple For Superior Neck Stability
Roasted Maple is Maple that has been kiln treated at high temperatures in an oxygen-free oven to remove moisture, sugars and other wood impurities. The result of this process is a superior, improved and stabilized neck with increased note sustain, resonance, and no dead spots.
‘Slab’ Indian Rosewood Fingerboard
Authentic Indian Rosewood fingerboard not Pau Ferro, Morado, Bolivian or other substitute. The period-correct ‘slab’ fingerboard is highly desired by vintage collectors as the wood content is more stable and resonant than the ‘mid-60s’ veneer board construction.
Steel Vintage-Style Bridge
Period-correct bridge made true vintage-style with a steel plate and steel threaded screw saddles instead of pot metal or brass. The result is note attack and decay more like the originals.

Man… this bass. I’ve always trusted Dave with my purchases and this one is really special. The neck is fantastic – rock solid and it feels amazing. It’s got a great thickness & profile, and the finish makes it really enjoyable to play. I’ve been playing it through an old Promethean head with Bag End cabinets at home, and an SVT at the rehearsal space I go to. The clarity & tightness in the low register is great and the top-end from the pickups gives a really nice shine to everything. Even with the tone dialled all the way back, with new strings there’s a subtle zing that sits on top of this great foundation. The weight is perfect and it’s got a great balance in the lap or on a strap. This bass feels like coming home. Thanks again Dave for your insights & help!

Did you ever try an instrument, felt the soul and the groove of a legendary musician? Search no more… at the second I layed my hands on that beauty, I felt a motown vibe à la James Jamerson and started some delicious grooves. The intonation of the instrument was perfect. The neck and the feel is out of this world. It was the delicious tone I’ve ever wanted in a bass for a vintage tone. I did not think of playing it with a pick to have a similar groove to Bobby Vega. Next time, I will totally try it.

I have owned and played many a P Bass over many years and I can tell you the build quality is absolutely superb. The ” Torrefied” (roasted) neck is so nice, nicest I’ve ever played to be honest. The frets, nut, bridge, every aspect of this bass just oozes quality. Very fast playing neck and easy to fret. I play with a light touch and really appreciate the nice low action. Man, what an outstanding P Bass. Dave was a pleasure to do business with… keep bringing in this kind of quality Dave!
