'60s Vintage-Style With Boutique Performance
MVJ4-66 '60s 4-string bass delivers a boutique instrument experience with '60s vintage style. When you put this bass in your hands, it's like you're home. That classic '60s bass tone along with a modern full-range sound is under your fingers. In addition to that, the slim neck feels great and is effortless to play.
Roasted Maple Neck
Roasted Maple provides a superior, improved and stabilized neck with increased note sustain, resonance, and no dead spots.
Authentic ‘Slab’ Indian Rosewood
The period-correct Indian Rosewood ‘slab’ fingerboard is more stable and resonant than the ‘mid-60s’ veneer fingerboard construction.

Bob Jessome –
Well, where do I start? I’m not sure how many other bassists who have purchased the MVJ-66 also own a Fender 66 Jazz to compare it to. I am fortunate enough to own one. Mine has mostly 65 parts and was assembled in 66 so it does not have the binding on the neck and the controls and neck are from 65. That happened a lot during the transition to CBS
For me, the real test is the neck and the pickups. I must say I’m not sure what voodoo tracing, mapping or modelling was done to match a real Vintage jazz but whoever is responsible should take a bow. They did an amazing job. Sonically the sound is virtually identical. I am planning on doing a recording to verify what my ears are hearing. But they sound identical to me through multiple amps and cabs.
The neck is smooth as silk, thin, sweet as honey and the as identical to my 66 jazz as possible. The roasted neck is a huge bonus. As is the easy access to the truss rod.
If anyone is hoping to buy a vintage jazz on a budget it doesn’t get any better than this. I am the proud owner of 8 basses, including vintage fenders and newer jazz style basses. The Modern Vintage is going to earn a place as my go to bass for sure
