'60s Vintage-Style With Modern Updates

MVP4-62 '60s 4-string bass delivers a boutique instrument experience with '60s vintage-style, and a modern build. When you put this bass in your hands, it's like you're home. That classic '60s P-bass tone is at your fingers, and the slim neck is effortless to play.

Alder Body

Tonewood of the '60s 4-string basses. The solid Alder body provides the classic warm mid-forward tone that's heard on countless recordings. The MVP4-62 body is solid Alder, not chambered, for authentic vintage tone.

'60s Style Passive Pickups

Custom wound Alnico-V single coil pickups deliver '60s 4-string bass vintage tone with punch and clarity. Very responsive for any playing style; finger, pick, slap, thumb.

Roasted Maple For Superior Neck Stability

Roasted Maple is Maple that has been kiln treated at high temperatures in an oxygen-free oven to remove moisture, sugars and other wood impurities. The result of this process is a superior, improved and stabilized neck with increased note sustain, resonance, and no dead spots.

‘Slab’ Indian Rosewood Fingerboard

Authentic Indian Rosewood fingerboard not Pau Ferro, Morado, Bolivian or other substitute. The period-correct ‘slab’ fingerboard is highly desired by vintage collectors as the wood content is more stable and resonant than the ‘mid-60s’ veneer board construction.

Steel Vintage-Style Bridge

Period-correct bridge made true vintage-style with a steel plate and steel threaded screw saddles instead of pot metal or brass. The result is note attack and decay more like the original '60s 4-string bass.

Customer Reviews

1 review for Modern Vintage MVP4-62 ’60s 4-String Bass – Seafoam Green

  1. Wayne Dupuis (verified owner)

Bass arrived today after only a short time enroute to me from Toronto. Dave actually took the time himself to keep me updated on its whereabouts 🙂

The fit and finish is excellent.
Neck is a thing of beauty. It’s quick hey.

I had to tweak the truss slightly for string height but overall it’s great. Smooth to play, fretwork is excellent.
There’s some rattle on the E string when doing two finger pull offs but can get that sorted easily enough.

The tone knob has quite a range of use and the pickups are punchy as F@#$. Just saying.
    It cuts.

Through my GK/410 NEO I actually like the sound of the bass more without a compressor. So dynamic.

    Thanks again Dave.
